Health and appearance

Here's a personal essay by a man who has had to live with kidney and pancreas transplants, Type 1 diabetes, broken bones and head and neck cancer. Pretty compelling. His head is now strangely swollen because of the treatment, and he writes about what it means to live as a disfigured version of himself.

My goodness indeed - it's almost cartoonish. I do not mock, rather look at myself and think - what problems do I have? I can still go outside and look "normal"! What an example of courage!
