Diabetes dogs

Apparently, dogs have the ability to *smell* low blood sugar. Some dogs are even trained to be companions for diabetics. This would be especially useful for people who cannot sense when they are experiencing low blood sugar, like the woman who nearly caused a fatal car accident last year when she slipped into a near-coma state while driving; her 11 year old daughter recognized what was happening and grabbed the wheel.
Yikes!

Gammy first heard about these special dogs & wondered if Graham would ever like one.
(He definitely would, though not for the blood-sugar sniffing ... just somebody to play catch with and chase around!)

Somehow, Annie heard about this, and was obviously a bit puzzled:

"But how does the dog test the blood sugar with its paws? How does it know how use the shots?"

Even though you had already told me this story beforehand, I still cracked up when I read it! Annie is so innocent and cute. Thanks for sharing :) What an appropriate picture... it's amazing what you can find on the web!
