Flight of the Conchords

I needed a belly laugh today. It's all part of my plan to be happy with my life as it is, right now. To Do List item 1) Belly laugh as often as possible. So I watched another episode of the New Zealand import Flight of the Conchords in between grading and cleaning. (I still remember Marni's amazing observation that in New Zealand, canna lilies grow as weeds out of roadside drains!)

Jemaine and Bret aren't for everybody. I hesitate to recommend them (unlike The Office, for example), because I'm not sure they are your cup of kiwi tea. I wouldn't want you to watch them perform as rhyme-nocerous and hiphopopopatamus, not like those rap-n-rhymes, and blame me for the wasted 25 minutes of your life you'll never get back. But their songs and absurdist television episodes really tickle my funny bone. This song - "Think About It" - reminds me of that Norwegian police drama skit I keep referencing, i.e. the polluted streets of Times Square.

This song isn't even that great musically, but when Jemaine lets it wail, "But what's the real cost cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper?" I can't help but laugh. Today, I laughed so hard, I choked on the water I was drinking.

Item 2) Don't drink water while pursuing belly laughs!

At least you didn't tell your whole family to go watch Blue Crush.
